Pascal Laugier Helming Hellraiser
...The Hollywood Reporter says Pascal Laugier (Martyrs) is in final negotiations to write and direct Dimension's re-imagining of Hellraiser, one of horrormeister Clive Barker's best-known creations...
"This is a dream project for me," Laugier said........
Am 18.Oktober waren`s Gerüchte, diese scheinen sich zu verdichten.

Pascal Lagier recently chatted with Aint it Cool News about his forthcoming release of MARTYRS. During the interview he talked a bit about why he chose to remake HELLRAISER for Dimension Films.
"First of all, HELLRAISER is a child's dream coming true," he tells AICN."I saw the first when I was 13, I remember precisely the shock it had on me because it was so new, so fresh, so it's very hard to resist the temptation to do HELLRAISER, you know? So of course. When you come from my culture it's like amazing you're even proposed to do HELLRAISER. So of course I felt about it a lot. Right now I have no reasons to refuse the opportunity because IF I disagree with the producer I would leave the project. You know, I'm not forced to do ANYTHING I don't want. So, let me write the first draft, let me tell you what all the American producers have reacted to the reading of the first draft and I will tell you if I'm in good hands or if I'm gonna leave a hellish experience but in ANY CASE, I won't betray Clive Barker's work. I want to do a fresh film filled with a lot of unexpected and surprising things. At the same time, I want it to be connected to the real, original material."
He continues, "I'm talking about the novella and the first film that are very close to each other. We'll get the chance to have much more money than even Clive had in the first film, so it will be of course more epic, it will be bigger, and I hope that it won't be softer. And right now I trust the guys in Dimension [Films] You know? It's all a matter of human relationship. I talk a lot with Bob Weinstein, he cares about the projects, he's a movie buff, he knows a lot about cinema. But at the same time he's Bob Weinstein and he's a very realistic money maker. So it will be a battle, and I hope that a balance will be found so the film will be close to my vision. What can I say? I'm not sure. I can't sign with my blood that I'm gonna achieve...
"I felt it was a good idea to do a new HELLRAISER. And we all know that the franchise has been killed by really, really cheap and bad direct-to-DVD sequels - I'm talking about HELLRAISER 4, 5, 6 - that we all hate. And we all know that the franchise deserve something more ambitious, you know, and more serious so for me it's a huge chance to be allowed to handle it."

Gary J. Tunnicliffe´s Vorschlag für den neuen Pinhead:
here's your chance to chime in on Dimension Films' forthcoming remake of Hellraiser, which has Martyrs director Pascal Laugier going behind the camera. Beyond the break you can check out what the new Pinhead will look like should Hellraiser FX vet Gary J. Tunnicliffe return to the franchise. Obviously no decisions have been made yet, which is why this is a campaign piece. It should be clear that this is NOT the new Pinhead as of this writing. (Bloody Disgusting)

Laugier Addresses Pinhead Conceptual Makeup
Source:ShockTillYouDrop.com, February 5, 2009
Fans had a lot to say earlier this week when FX artist Gary Tunnicliffe unveiled his unofficial approach to Pinhead for the forthcoming Hellraiser remake. More or less, it was a bid to get a job and attention. The photo(s) certainly garnered the latter.
Now, new Hellraiser helmer Pascal Laugier wants to clear the air on this week's developments.
"A lot of fans seem to think that the new Pinhead will look like that," he tells ShockTillYouDrop.com. "My answer is: NO HE WON'T. This version of Pinhead came from the vision of Gary J. Tunnicliffe and not mine or my producer's. I never met Gary and although I respect him a lot, I want to be very clear about the fact that my vision of the character will be TOTALLY different."
Laugier, who directed the attention-grabbing Martyrs, was attached to the reboot late last year. "The new look of Pinhead is a VERY important matter to all of us," he adds.

Laugier ist wohl leider raus.
According to this Twitter account (
http://twitter.com/RealCliveBarker) claiming to be the "real" Clive Barker, French director Pascal Laugier "is regrettably no longer on the Hellraiser remake." This confirms reports that we've been hearing that Dimension Films was actively seeking a new writer. Laugier, who directed the incredible French horror film Martyrs, is one in a long line of quality directors attached to bring Pinhead back to the big screen. We'll keep you posted on any updates, assuming this project doesn't just die.

Hellraiser Film Gets Ready to Roll
Source: Shock Till You Drop, August 19, 2010
Sources within Clive Barker's camp have informed us of new Hellraiser (!) film that's rapidly going into production.
Details are scarce at the moment, but the film is called Hellraiser: Revelations and is based on a script by Gary Tunnicliffe. Victor Garcia is sitting in the director's seat. He recently wrapped Mirrors 2 for Fox.
We're told this is another stand-alone Hellraiser tale and shooting is expected to begin soon. Stay tuned for more details - such as, what does this mean for the remake? - as they come in.

You Read It Here First: Lussier, Farmer on Hellraiser Remake
Source: Shock Till You Drop, October 20, 2010
Sure, reports earlier this week were pinning other directors at the helm of the Hellraiser remake, however, Shock was tipped off that Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer were going to tangle with Pinhead at Dimension Films.
Today, we have confirmed our scoop. And I think it's safe to say you can forget that b.s. about a PG-13 remake. Never believed that for a minute.
Farmer practically tipped off his Facebook followers to his latest gig by posting a picture of a Pinhead bobblehead toy sitting on his desk. Lussier is currently in post-production on Drive Angry 3D. Curious to hear now what they plan to do for the Hellraiser saga.

Hier mal kurz etwas OT: 😉

While Pinhead and the Hellraiser films haven't exactly been hitting the horror home run that they should over the last few years, it seems that the only place you can find a good Cenobite-laden tale is in print.
And that's just fine with us because when you see what Clive Barker and BOOM! Studios have in store for fans, you're going to find yourself coming way before anyone even opens your box.
In case you haven't been in the know, BOOM! Studios is launching a new ongoing Hellraiser comic book series written by Clive Barker that will be released in comic stores everywhere on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011. This is only the third time that Clive has "touched" the characters — the first with his novella The Hellbound Heart and the second being the first Hellraiser film. With the Hellraiser ongoing comic series, Clive Barker returns to his signature creation.
Some quick details for you ...
# Hellraiser: Prelude is a complete, self-contained original eight-page Hellraiser story.
# The story takes place before Issue #1 of the new Hellraiser ongoing comic, written by Clive Barker and drawn by Leonardo Manco.
# This IS NOT a preview of anything from the first issue. This is all new, all original content.
# There is no way to get this content outside of the PDF provided here. It will not be put into print until the TPB collection.
Excited? Yeah, you should be. This is the first time any publisher has ever done this, much less with one of the biggest names in literature and one of the biggest franchise characters in fiction.

Hellraiser Remake Is Stalling Again
Source: Shock Till You Drop, September 7, 2011
The sweet suffering that only Pinhead and his fellow cenobites can dish out may not be felt on the big screen right away.
Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry), the duo attached to revive Hellraiser on the big screen for Dimension Films, attending the Los Angeles signing event for Still Screaming last night. And when pressed for details about their Hellraiser remake, both were telling fans that it was looking unlikely that it was going to happen with them involved. This update comes after Farmer and Lussier drafted a number of scripts that presented different takes on the latest Pinhead outing.
So, this means Hellraiser is, once again, on hold until Dimension sorts out what it wants to do with the series creatively.
A direct-to-DVD sequel Hellraiser: Revelations is arriving this fall - a production that was reportedly cranked out just so the studio could hold on to the rights. And it appears they were smart in buying themselves time to develop the property longer.

Clive Barker to Draft Hellraiser Reboot
Source: Clive Barker , ShockTillYouDrop.com, October 24, 2013
A remake of Clive Barker's horror classic Hellraiser is back on track and fans should be pleased to learn that it is being developed by Barker himself. What's more, Doug Bradley will be back as Pinhead! The official announcement was posted to the filmmaker's Facebook page (via ShockTillYouDrop) and reads as follows:
HOT FROM HELL! My friends,I have some news which may be of interest to you. A few weeks ago I had a very productive meeting with Bob Weinstein of Dimension Pictures,in the course of which I pitched a remake of the first HELLRAISER film. The idea of my coming back to the original film and telling the story with a fresh intensity-honoring the structure and the designs from the first incarnation but hopefully creating an even darker and richer film-was attractive to Dimension. Today I have officially been invited to write the script based upon that pitch.
What can I tell you about it?
Well, it will not be a film awash with CGI. I remain as passionate about the power of practical make-up effects as I was when I wrote and directed the first HELLRAISER. Of course the best make-up in the world loses force if not inhabited by a first-rate actor. I told the Dimension team that in my opinion there could never be a Pinhead without Doug Bradley, and much to my delight Bob Weinstein agreed. So once the papers are signed, I will open a Lemarchand Configuration, dip my quill in its contents and start writing. I promise that there will be nowhere on the Internet where the news of my progress will be more reliable than here ,because the only author of these reports will be Your Infernal Corespondent ,me.
My very best wishes to you all,my friends. Clive.
