Well, according to The Matrix directors The Warchowski's, the upcoming December release of the 10 disc Ultimate Matrix DVD Gift Set will contain no extra in-movie content. Tthis means, thankfully, that the footage from the Enter The Matrix video game will not be cut back into the Reloaded film. The only film to be any different this time around will be the original The Matrix, with the difference being a digitally remastered & recoloured transfer.
It has now been confirmed that the 10 DVDs will be labelled as follows:
Disk 1 - The Matrix; Disk 2 - The Matrix Revisited; Disk 3 - The Matrix Reloaded; Disk 4 - The Matrix Reloaded Revisited; Disk 5 - The Matrix Revolutions; Disk 6 - The Matrix Revolutions Revisited; Disk 7 - The Animatrix; Disk 8 - The Roots of the Matrix; Disk 9 - The Burly Man Chronicles; Disk 10 - The Zion Archive.
Additional, and different, news to what we already reported here, includes information regarding the two audio commentaries for each of the films. The first will be with movie philosophers Ken Wilbur & Cornel West; the second with three unnamed 'professional' critics who hated all three The Matrix outings.
"It's the best idea we've ever had. It's hilarious. They just sit there and rip the shit out of us for six hours."
Also, only the Revisited and Animatrix discs will contain the extra features from their original releases; so hardcore fans will want to hold on to their original purchases of the movies.
Finally, it looks as if the set will also be available for a limited time in a not-too-pretty collector's box, with a Gentle Giant Neo bust and a soundtrack CD.
Read on for the, new, slightly different content breakdown, plus a look at the new proposed box art and the collector's box (including Neo bust).
