Eventuell wird eine kommende VÖ aus dem Hause "Arrow" die kürzlich gefundenen (härtere) Workprint-Fassung beinhalten:

A small college campus cineclub asked Warner for a film print of The Last Boy Scout to screen. Instead of sending the theatrical print, Warner Bros. accidentally shipped an early workprint of the film.

The discovery was later confirmed on X by respected film archivist Peter ‘ncseventeen’, of Scanners Inc, who attended the screening. Arrow is now working to secure approval from Warner Bros. to include the alternate cut on the upcoming release.

While Arrow hasn’t revealed every difference between the workprint and the theatrical release, they did tease that it contains additional footage, alternate edits, and noticeably more violence.

That’s particularly significant because The Last Boy Scout famously ran into trouble with the MPAA during post-production. At the time, the ratings board was introducing the controversial NC-17 rating, and the film risked becoming one of its earliest victims. To avoid a commercially disastrous rating, several violent moments were trimmed before release.

Anyone familiar with the theatrical cut can spot moments where the editing feels slightly abrupt—a likely consequence of those last-minute cuts.

New Line Cinema (Katalog)Titel auf 4K zu veröffentlichen; Cobra, Under Siege, Demolition Man, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Dark City, Lost in Space, Deep Blue Sea, The Cell, Swordfish und nicht zuletzt Jackie Chan's Breakout Hits um nur ein paar zu nennen. Und nicht zuletzt die Jackie Chan Box ist ein Beispiel dafür, wie Arrow Video rare Filmfassungen in großartiger Qualität auf 4K wieder zum Leben erweckt.

In UK veröffentlicht Arrow Films am 12. Oktober 2026 den schwarzhumorigen Action-Klassiker The Last Boy Scout von Tony Scott nach dem Drehbuch von Shane Black mit Bruce Willis, Damon Wayans, Chelsea Field, Halle Berry, Noble Willingham, Danielle Harris, Bruce Mc Gill und Kim Coates auf 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray und Blu-ray jeweils in einer Limited Edition.

Der Film wurde neu in 4K vom Original 35mm Kameranegativ restauriert, mit Dolby Vision versehen und vom Director of Photography Ward Russel abgenommen. Für den O-Ton gibt es einen neuen Dolby Atmos Mix.
