Hach, das ist doch mal eine klasse Nachricht: Die unter Fans allseits beliebte Serie soll nun in den USA endlich eine würdige DVD-Veröffentlichung erfahren, was ich bislang weltweit (soweit ich weiß) sträflich vermisst habe...

HBO Home Video, distributed by Warner Home Entertainment, has announced that it is putting the hit horror series TALES FROM THE CRYPT on DVD, starting with season one, debuting July 12. The six episodes will be presented in their original fullscreen aspect ratios with 2.0 Dolby Surround audio on one disc; a second DVD of extra features will also be included, though Warner has yet to disclose details about them. The first-season lineup includes TALES directed by Walter Hill, Robert Zemeckis and Richard Donner (also executive producers of the show), as well as Tom (CHILD'S PLAY) Holland, Mary (PET SEMATARY) Lambert and Howard Deutch. Retail price for the set will be $26.98. (thanks to Fangoria.com)

** Warner Home Video has just released final details on its TALES FROM THE CRYPT: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON DVD collector's set, which streets July 12. In addition to the six episodes of the HBO horror series (presented in the original fullscreen with Dolby 2.0 stereo), the package will include an introduction by the Crypt Keeper, a photo gallery narrated by the cadaverous host and the documentary TALES FROM THE CRYPT: FROM COMIC BOOKS TO TELEVISION, previously aired on cable TV and released on its own disc. Retail price for the TALES set will be $26.98. (thanks to Fangoria.com)

Tales from the Crypt - Season 2 out before Halloween !!!

The first season hasn't even been released yet, but Warner Home Video has already announced plans to release the second season of the series on October 25, just in time for Halloween. Expect to pay a suggested price of $39.98 for 486 mins. Specs include a full frame (1.33:1) transfer, and an English Dolby Surround audio track (English, French and Spanish subtitles). There will be a documentary included on the third disc, but we don't know what it's called, or how long it will be.

'Tales from the Crypt: Season 2' DVD Details

On October 25th we'll see the release of Warner Home Video's Tales From The Crypt: The Complete 2nd Season. According to TV Shows on DVD there will be a "Behind-The-Screams Shockumentary Featurette", and also "Fright and Sound: Bringing the Crypt Experience to Radio". The DVD will contain a nice 18 episodes, which will make this season much more worth while than the first (like always). Click the link above for the back of the box art. In Season 2 you'll see the likes of: John Kassir, Demi Moore, Lance Henriksen, Iggy Pop, Patricia Arquette, Bobcat Goldthwait and many more.

'Tales from the Crypt: Season 3' Officially Announced

TV Shows on DVD confirms our report that Tales from the Crypt: Season 3 will be hitting DVD on March 31st. Here's Warner's announcement, "Yes, that die-abolical punster and bone-a-fide ghoul of your dreams the Crypt Keeper is back to host this scare-rific collection of all 14 complete and uncut episodes from Season 3 of the series that ran seven memorably spooktacular seasons. Among the tales spilling out of the vault are Loved to Death, with Mariel Hemingway as a woman zapped by a love potion; Top Billing, starring Jon Lovitz as a struggling actor who'll do anything for a part; and Dead Wait, with Whoopi Goldberg as an occult priestess who knows who do that voodoo. Doo yourself a favor and dig into this merrily macabre mix." Guest stars include: Michael J. Fox, Teri Garr, Mariel Hemingway, Kyle MacLachlan, Beau Bridges, John Astin, Sandra Bernhard, Bruce Boxleitner, Jon Lovitz, Whoopi Goldberg, James Remar, John Rhys-Davies, Malcolm McDowell, George Wendt, William Atherton, Tim Roth, John Glover, Ally Walker, Steven Weber, Rita Wilson, Marg Helgenberger, Anthony LaPaglia, Dan Aykroyd, Kirk Douglas and Lance Henriksen.

DVD Active reports that "Warner has today announced the Tales from the Crypt: Season 4, which includes all fourteen uncut episodes. Each will be presented in 1.33:1 full frame, along with English 2.0 Stereo Surround tracks." No word on any extra material for this one thus far. The DVD hits retailers on July 25th, with the set retailing at around $39.98 in total. This season features guest stars John Kassir, Sugar Ray Leonard, Treat Williams, Tom Hanks, Christopher Reeve, Judd Nelson, Robert Patrick, Brad Pitt and many more.
