LAND OF THE DEAD DVD: Universal has announced rated and unrated editions of George A. Romero's AND OF THE DEAD which stars the likes of Simon Baker, John Leguizamo, Dennis Hopper and Asia Argento. Both discs will be available to own from the 18th October this year, and should retail at around $29.99 a piece. The rated edition (runtime 1 hour 33 minutes) will be available in full frame only, whereas the unrated edition (1 hour 37 minutes) will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen. Each will carry English Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 Surround tracks. Extras wise, both discs will carry an audio commentary with George Romero, producer Peter Grumwald and editor Michael Doherty, an Undead Again: The Making of Land of the Dead featurette, A Day with the Living Dead featurette, deleted scenes and a When Shaun met George featurette. The unrated disc will include all of that, along with a Bringing the Dead to Life featurette, a Scenes of Carnage feature, a feature on the Zombie Effects from Green Screen to Finished Scene, a Bringing the Storyboards to Life feature, and Scream Tests: Zombie Casting Call. Die Menüs der RC1:

Obwohl ich nicht allzuviel von dem Streifen erwarte, z.B. fand ich "Dawn of the dead" zum einschlafen öde und langweilig, freue ich mich auf die DVD, der Trailer sah recht "nett" aus.

Finde es jedoch merkwürdig das ausgerechnet der Erfinder des Zombiegenres nur "Durchschnitt" abliefert, bin ihm zwar für seine "Erfindung" dankbar aber es ist doch irgendwie paradox.

Das "Dawn of the dead"-Remake war z.B. um Klassen besser als alle Zombiestreifen von Romero zusammen, zumindest ist dies meine bescheidene Meinung. 🙄

Gerade mal einen Blick reingeworfen. Zu Beginn kommt ein Trailer vom Spiel. Sieht mal ziemlich scheisse aus.

Die englischen Untertitel sind übrigens nur SDH.

Hier ein Interview mit dem Cheffe zum Thema DC:

The intention of the film is the same. The film on the unrated version is not that much longer. I mean, there's one scene that we shot, but it's a story point, not gore, which we just left out of the theatrical release because I didn't think it turned out as great as it could have. Of course, there are two or three of Greg Nicotero's greatest hits. But mostly I think the most interesting thing about the DVD is the stuff that other people did, the extras. The SHAUN (OF THE DEAD) guys did a little piece. Leguizamo shot a little film... I hope the fans are going to check it out and dig it because I think they're really fun.
But as far as the film itself, I have to say that I think the intention of the film hasn't changed hardly at all.
I was very satisfied with the theatrical. I thought I got away with murder, man. Literally! I used a trick, I stole Kubrick's trick... You know, I shot some zombies against green screen, so I could lay 'em over the top of the gore stuff. You know, the MPAA will never say, "Cut a scene," because they don't want to be considered censors, but they will say, "Cut 8 frames out of that." So, my way of doing that was to shoot foreground to be able to lay over the top. So, a couple of those things came off on the DVD.

Schon beim "Dawn" Remake wollte ich auf die US Unrated DVD zurückgreifen, habe dann allerdings doch auf die dt DVD gewarten und hier werde ich das genauso machen, sofern sie denn ebenfalls Unrated ist.

Wenn die Preise bei beiden DVDs so schnell sinken, wie es momentan der fall ist, dann werde ich vieleicht sogar beide DVD´s mitgehen lassen.
